I am using the WP SMTP Mail plugin with Zoho mail to send emails for my WordPress website.
But when I activated Two-factor Authentication on Zoho by my mobile phone number, the SMTP got “SMTP Error: Could not authenticate”
Do you have any solution that I don’t need to disable Two-factor?
Thank you!
Third-party application as SMTP plugins can’t access when you enable Two-factor Authentication.
Zoho provides a separate password for each third-party app to access.
You need to log in to your Zoho account manager accounts.zoho.com, at the Security tab you can see Application-Specific Passwords. Create a password for the SMTP of your website. Then try sending a test email, and the problem is solved.
Yes, to resolve the issue you can create an app password in Zoho Mail for the WP SMTP Mail plugin. An app password is a unique password for the application which you can use instead of your regular password when two-factor authentication is enabled. You can follow these steps to generate an app password:
By using an app password, you will not have to disable two-factor authentication, and your account will remain secure.
